Summer has arrived, school is out and the crickets are chirping. What a perfect time to find a job.
Job recovery is underway as President Barack Obama has begun the push to employ another 600,000 people in his second 100 days in office.
Roadmap to Recovery
The "Roadmap to Recovery" includes 10 commitments that span many industries, including health care, education and transportation. Also included on the list are summer jobs for youth.
The 10 commitments are to:
- Enable 1,129 health centers in 50 states and eight territories to provide expanded service to about 300,000 patients.
- Begin work on 107 national parks.
- Begin work on rehabilitation and improvement projects at 98 airports and more than 1,500 highway locations nationwide.
- Fund 135,000 education jobs including teachers, principals and support staff.
- Begin improvements at 90 Veterans Affairs medical centers across 38 states.
- Hire or keep about 5,000 law enforcement officers.
- Start 200 new waste and water systems in rural America.
- Begin or accelerate cleanup work at 20 Superfund sites from the National Priority list.
- Create 125,000 summer youth jobs.
- Initiate 2,300 construction and rehabilitation projects at 359 military facilities across the country.
